Europa Series

Index

The Europa Series is a line of laminators developed by D&K Europe Ltd (Redditch, UK), the European subsidiary of D&K Group, Inc.

This article outlines the key specifications, features, and suitable applications of each model as a laminator series designed for commercial printing.

What is the Europa Series?

Laminator series for commercial printing

The Europa Series is a range of laminators for commercial printing, centered on B2-size compatible models and covering single-sided, double-sided, embossing, and cold lamination. While based on PLC-controlled automation, the lineup offers multiple models that can be selected according to on-site needs, such as sheet separation method, single/double-sided processing, and embossing capability.

Equipped with a high-pile feeder as standard, the machines support both offset and digital print outputs. They are also compatible with Industry 4.0 options, contributing to digitalization and efficiency improvements in production environments.

The Right Machine Depends on Your Production Scale

For example, if you run small batches, ease of installation and implementation is key. For medium-batch operations handling a wide product mix, the scope of automation becomes the priority. For high-volume sites that frequently deliver by roll or perform batch trimming, continuous processing will be central.

On this site, we introduce recommended fully automatic laminators by production scale. If you want to find the best machine for your business, please take a look.

Europa Series Lineup

Europa B2 Fully Automated Laminator

Single-sided laminator with burster-type sheet separation

Maximum width 530 mm
Maximum processing speed Up to 20 m/min
Supported film thickness 25–42 μm
Warm-up Contact manufacturer
Power supply 3 phase / 400 V / 6.5 kW

Primary applications

This is a single-sided laminator compatible with both offset and digital print outputs. With burster-type sheet separation and a high-pile feeder, it efficiently handles long runs and continuous processing. By adding long-sheet options (88/95/105 cm), it can also support sizes beyond B2.

As the base model of the series, it is suitable for standard single-sided lamination processes that do not require double-sided processing or embossing.

Europa KC

Cold laminator model compatible with adhesive films

Maximum width 540 mm
Maximum processing speed Up to 12 m/min
Supported film thickness Contact manufacturer (for cold applications; temperature range 0–70°C, max paper thickness 600 gsm)
Warm-up Contact manufacturer
Power supply 3 phase / 400 V / 7 kW

Primary applications

This model supports a wide range of cold lamination applications, including self-adhesive films. A proprietary cutting head (patent pending) ensures a clean finish with no adhesive edges or excess film remaining.

As a heat-free cold laminator, it is suitable for processing heat-sensitive materials and specialty adhesive films.

Europa PB

The only double-sided laminator in the series

Maximum width 530 mm
Maximum processing speed Up to 20 m/min
Supported film thickness 25–42 μm
Warm-up Contact manufacturer
Power supply 3 phase / 400 V / 12.0 kW

Primary applications

This model features two independently controlled laminating stations, enabling simultaneous double-sided lamination in a single pass. Each station is equipped with heat chrome rollers and nip rollers, ensuring a uniform finish on both sides.

By completing double-sided processing in one machine, it is ideal for applications requiring consistent gloss and protection on both sides, such as book covers, packaging, and high-quality promotional materials.

Europa FK

Sheet separation model compatible with OPP, nylon, and polyester films

Maximum width 530 mm
Maximum processing speed Up to 20 m/min
Supported film thickness 25–42 μm
Warm-up Contact manufacturer
Power supply 3 phase / 400 V / 6.5 kW

Primary applications

Unlike the burster-type Europa B2, this model uses a flying knife sheet separation system. It is suitable for films with high cutting resistance such as OPP, nylon, and polyester, making it ideal for applications requiring cleaner cuts.

When combined with optional stacker delivery systems or rewind units (for foil applications), it also supports streamlining post-processing workflows.

Europa EL

Model capable of lamination and embossing in a single pass

Maximum width 530 mm
Maximum processing speed Up to 20 m/min
Supported film thickness 25–42 μm
Warm-up Contact manufacturer
Power supply 3 phase / 400 V / 12.0 kW

Primary applications

This model includes a second station for embossing in addition to the standard lamination head. It can switch between standard single-sided lamination and lamination + embossing in a single pass.

It can also be adapted for high-pressure lamination, making it suitable for high-value printed materials and packaging that emphasize texture and decorative effects.

Three Fully Automatic Laminators

When choosing a fully automatic laminator, it is important to base your decision on the volume you process in a day rather than the size of the main unit or equipment scale.
This is an introduction to fully automatic laminators that match the workload and operational style of different production scales.

Example facilities

Schools, hospitals, municipalities, etc.

Reasons for recommendation
Automates small-scale operations with fewer personnel
  • With the push of a button, automatically laminates 30 sheets of A4 paper in 15 minutes. Its size allows it to be placed on a desk, making it easy to install.
  • By fully automating the process from feeding to lamination, it enables the handling of jobs with low daily processing volumes in parallel with other operations.
The fact that it does not require dedicated operators or subsequent processes makes it suitable for small-scale sites.
Maximum processing speed 7.0 m/min
Maximum width 297 mm (A3 compatible)
Warm-up about 4 minutes
Processing type roll type, double-sided (with borders)
Voltage (CE) AC220 to 240V
Main unit dimensions W 580 mm / D 440 mm / H 250 mm
[About 1,000+ sheets per month]

Reasons for recommendation
High-mix, fast-turnaround jobs are efficient through process reduction
  • Completes trimming simultaneously with lamination, eliminating the need to move to subsequent processes or separate equipment.
Eliminates bottlenecks that tend to occur in on-demand printing and production sites.
  • High-precision automatic four-side trimming reduces trimming errors resulting from manual work, reducing film loss and the hassle of reprinting.
Even at sites with high-mix, small-lot production, it processes efficiently with consistent quality.

Reasons for recommendation
High-speed, continuous processing that can be integrated into mass-production lines
  • Uses a steel side plate with a thickness of 20 mm described as sturdy like a tank. This rigid structure physically eliminates vibrations even at high-speed operations of 60 m per minute, maintaining stable processing accuracy.
  • With a processing capacity of 60 m per minute, it can continuously handle large-format prints stably.
It demonstrates its true value when introduced as a part of a production line rather than as a standalone machine.
